Cancellation

Part of our agreement in therapy is to commit to time with each other. To be able to engage in this process in a stable yet flexible way, we have a 48-hour cancellation policy. What this means is that you will be charged our full fee for any missed sessions with less than 48-hour notice unless we are able to find another time within that week to reschedule. We do understand that things happen in life and will work with you to the best of our ability to find time that works for both of us should that need arise.

Sessions

  • Most clients meet with with us Individually on a weekly basis for 50-minute sessions.
  • We can also provide couples sessions.
  • Telehealth sessions are conducted in video format through our private and secure Telehealth platform.
  • Michael is also available for clinical supervision for licensed mental health practitioners in New York State.

Payment

  • Payment is due in full at the beginning of each session unless we have worked out an alternative agreement.
  • Payment may be made with cash, Venmo, or credit card.

Insurance / Fees

  • Out-of-network: Michael is Licensed for Psychotherapy Privileges by New York State, so if you have out-of-network coverage our sessions should be reimbursable to you through your insurance plan. The process for out-of-network reimbursement is that you pay the full fee at each session, and we will either submit a bill directly to your insurance company for you, or (if you prefer) give you what is called a “super bill” that you may submit yourself to get reimbursed by your insurance for the amount that your plan will cover. The amount reimbursed can vary by insurance company and plan, so you may want to have a conversation with your insurance company to be clear what they cover.   • In-network: We are currently an in-network provider for most Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance plans. You may contact your particular plan using the number on the back of your insurance card and give them the NPI# (1760699037) to confirm we are in-network with your plan.
  • You may also choose to pay directly out of pocket depending on your current insurance situation or personal desire for privacy.
  • Out-of-network and out-of-pocket rates are:
    • Individuals: $240 per 50-minute session / Couples: $275 per 50-minute session with Michael Mitchell, LCSW-R
    • up to $150 per 50-minute session for Maddie McGee, MHC-LP

How do I get started?

  • You may contact us through this website on our secure Contact Us page, or give us a call at 646.801.4679.
  • We will then give you a call back to get some basic information about what you are looking for and to give you a chance to ask any preliminary questions you might have. This usually takes 10-15 minutes.
  • After this conversation we will send you a link to our secure online portal which will have some preliminary questions for you to answer including some basic background information about you and your contact and insurance/payment information.
  • You will also be asked to electronically sign several consent forms.
  • Once you have completed the online process, we will confirm your first appointment!
